COPYWRITING and photography

In addition to the video format, The Photography Movement commissioned me to create a copywriting piece to pitch to local press.

You can view this work, along with the rest of the project, in the showreel above.

Working on copywriting for The Photography Movement taught me valuable new skills in the English language, particularly in how to craft compelling narratives within specific formats. Adapting my creativity to suit different briefs has been a key learning experience, as I’ve had to tailor my writing style to meet the needs of various audiences, whether for press pitches, promotional material, or social media content. This project helped me refine my ability to switch between creative and professional tones, ensuring my work is both engaging and purposeful depending on the intended outcome.

Additional work in the media

My work goes beyond just producing, editing, and filming videos—I’m able to channel my creativity into a variety of formats. I've contributed to copywriting for social content, helping clients communicate effectively across platforms. Additionally, I've explored writing for a hypothetical magazine article including working on elements of graphic design and created production logs for client briefs, ensuring that all production work is well-organised and clearly documented. This diverse skill set allows me to adapt to different creative challenges and maintain a high level of professionalism across all stages of a project.

My experience at Emerald Florence Beauty and Aesthetics has provided me with the opportunity to further develop my creative skills by producing custom promotional videos and graphics aimed at driving engagement and enhancing the salon's social media presence. Leveraging my expertise in lighting and video editing, I created dynamic content that aligned with the business’s tone of voice, appealing to a more sophisticated clientele. I also designed graphics that incorporated the salon's branding and highlighted key add-on sales, ultimately contributing to increased business revenue and profitability. This role has allowed me to not only expand my knowledge within the beauty industry but also to continue honing my passion for content creation across various media platforms. I invite you to click on my Google Drive link to see evidence of this.

For a university module, I wrote a magazine article as part of a proposed magazine brand called Bleach. This was a home and lifestyle magazine that blended factual articles with trendy content inspired by social media, such as cleaning hacks. The magazine covered a range of topics, offering both practical advice and lifestyle inspiration. Our project was well-received and earned a First-class grade.

My featured article for the magazine focused on the phenomenon of Frankfurt kitchens, exploring how their innovative design revolutionised housing and influenced modern layouts that are still in use today. This article allowed me to combine research, storytelling, and creativity, offering a deeper understanding of design history in a way that resonated with our magazine's audience.

Alongside my studies, I worked on a personal project that involved creating a proposed podcast to enhance a new app developed for a university module. The app, TrendShopper, was a shopping platform that used AI to identify emerging trends. To promote the app and broaden its reach, I designed a podcast that not only highlighted the app’s features but also addressed important topics like body confidence and body image issues. The podcast explored how media and apps can influence these topics, positioning TrendShopper as a body-positive and conscientious platform. This project allowed me to merge creative content with meaningful social discussions, aligning the app's messaging with contemporary concerns.

In addition to producing professional video and social media content, I quickly realised that creating detailed production logs was essential to the success of any project. By documenting each stage of the brief, I helped ensure that the workflow remained organized, allowing the team to shift priorities as needed while maintaining accountability for every member’s role.

Using shared software to maintain these production logs made it easier for the team to stay aligned with the client's objectives, whether it was hitting the right tone of voice, increasing engagement on social platforms, or raising awareness for specific calls to action. Through this process, I've learned how to merge the creativity demanded by the project with the organizational structure required behind the scenes. This balance is crucial to optimising workflow and ensuring the success of the client’s project.
